Wire Rope Hoist - Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What sizes of drums can you repair?

A: We can repair or manufacture up to 20 ft. long and up to an OD of 40 inches.

Q: Can you repair an existing drum?

A: Yes, by undercutting the drum to achieve a pure surface then we submerged arc weld it and re-machine it to customer specifications.

Q: Can you repair a cast iron drum?

A: No, but we can re-groove if there is enough reusable material on the drum.

Q: Can a rope drum be modified?

A: Yes, we can modify to customer specifications and in some cases we can change the pitch and convert Hyatt/ pillar block bearings to AP bearings and also we can change the grooves to adapt to different rope sizes.
